This U.K. MCA Approved course aims to provide the training for candidates to launch and take charge of a survival craft or rescue boat in emergency situations, in accordance with Regulation VI/2, paragraph 1 and Section A-VI/2, paragraphs 1 to 4 of the STCW Convention and Code 1978, as amended.

The objective of the course is to train the candidate to be competent to operate life-saving appliances and safely take charge of a survival craft or rescue boat during or after launch. The course consists of theory and practical learning. Part of the outcome of the course is that the candidate will be able to operate a survival craft engine and manage survivors and survival craft after abandoning ship, know the correct use of all locating devices, including communication and signalling apparatus and pyrotechnics, and how to apply and assist first aid to survivors.

Galileo Maritime Academy is directly accredited by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) of the Department of Transport of the United Kingdom to issue MCA Approved Certificates.

Entry Requirements

ENG 1 medical certificate or acceptable alternative.
Note. ENG 1 is not available in Thailand. We are able to provide details of where to obtain a Norwegian Seafarers Medical in Bangkok, which is an acceptable equivalent.
