This course fulfills the requirements of the South African Code of Maritime Qualifications, SA Merchant Shipping (Safe Manning, Training and Certification) Regulations , 2012. and is accredited by SAMSA and meets the requirements of Section A-VI/2-1 of the STCW Code. A certificate, numbered and referenced to training regulations and guidelines, is issued to successful candidates on completion.
Requirements
All candidates must be over 18 years of age and should be able to tread water/swim. Valid medical certificate required. All candidates must be conversant and literate in English.
Seatime
Must produce proof of having served at sea in any capacity for a period of not less than 6 months.
Medical Fitness
Must produce a valid medical certificate stating that the candidate was examined in terms of Marine Notice No. 1 of 1992.
Additional
Candidates are required to bring old clothes or overalls plus deck shoes (safety boots) for the boat exercises.
Candidates are to bring along their ID/Passport and must bring a valid Personal Survival Techniques (PST) certificate on the 1st day of the course.
