Dynamic Positioning Intensive Simulator / Seatime Reduction

Target group
People who wish to reduce the required seatime for the DP certificate by 6 weeks and who meet the requirements given below.
Prior education
Successfully completed the DP Induction and DP Advanced courses.
The required 30 days of DP watchkeeping experience must be signed off in the participant's DP logbook.
A good command of English.
From 1st January 2012, there are new acceptance requirements as specified in the Nautical Institute Circular DPTC 004-2011:The minimum qualification will be set at STCW Regulation II/1 - II/2 - II/3 Deck and Regulation III/1 – III /2 – III/3 Engine.
Alternative appropriate marine vocational qualifications will be considered on a case by case basis. Marine vocational qualification is defined as a non-STCW Certificate of Competence issued by an IMO white list Maritime Administration for use in the administration’s local waters only.

Contents of the course
The course theory covers the following subjects, as demanded by the Nautical Institute:
Saturation / Air dive support.
Subsea construction / Heavy lift.
ROV work.
OSV work.
Cable-laying work.
Offshore loading/unloading work.
Survey work.
Simulation exercises for the operational training are given on the full mission simulator, which is recognized as a Class A simulator by the Nautical Institute.
Duration
5 days.
Certification
Participants who successfully complete the course are awarded a DP Intensive Simulator Course (Seatime Reduction) certificate.
Remarks
This course reduces the required 180 days of seatime experience by 42 days.
The course theory, simulator, scenarios and the instructors are accredited by the Nautical Institute in London.
There must be a minimum of 30 days supervised watchkeeping between the DP Advanced course and the Seatime Reduction course.
