Route 1 with prior on board training

Training Duration: not less than 3 contact hours over half a day.

Pre –requisites: proof of initial PSC&RB Certificate, self-declaration confirming on board training requirements met, correct form from Annex E (ii) MNTB PSC&RB Updating Training Course Criteria. Self-declaration of fitness to carry out physical requirements of course. Proof of identity; either Passport, photo driving licence (UK only) Discharge Book (UK only, less than 10 years old).

Route 2

Training Duration: not less than 7 contact hours over one day.

Pre –requisites: proof of initial PSC&RB Certificate, Self-declaration of fitness to carry out physical requirements of course. Proof of identity; either Passport, photo driving licence (UK only) Discharge Book (UK only, less than 10 years old).

STCW Refresher Training

If you are serving onboard a ship and are qualified in any of the following courses, you are required as of 1st January 2017, to have documentary evidence of either completing the training course or updating training within the last five years.

• Full Course (Route 1)
• Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting Refresher
• Advanced Fire Fighting Refresher (Route 1 / Route 2)
• Proficiency in Survival Craft & Rescue Boats Refresher (Route 1 / Route 2)
• Personal Survival Techniques Refresher

Entry Requirements

A full STCW PSC&RB (Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats - other than Fast Rescue Boats) Certificate from any EU country, New Zealand, Canada, South Africa, India or Pakistan.

If you have a query is regarding a certificate from a country other than those listed above please contact the MCA.

If your PSC&RB or AFF certificates are from a country not accepted by the MCA you will need to complete the full course prior 1st January 2017.
