Ship Manager (RoPax) – Permanent – UK – Excellent Package

This is an exciting opportunity to join an expanding shipping company. The role is a mix of office based, home working & ship visits. Ideally you will live within a reasonable commute from either Dover, N. Wales or Pembroke.

You will have responsibility for the efficient and effective operation of assigned ships and to work as a member of the Ship Management Team with high exposure to the owners.

Responsibilities include:

  • Plan and coordinate all activities connected with maintenance, repairs, dry-docking, conversion or modification of assigned vessels.
  • Plan and coordinate all activities connected to class and flag state survey and certificate requirements and build and maintain effective liaison with relevant authorities.
  • Assist the project team with modifications, upgrades & projects
  • Monitor vessel performance trends including speed, fuel and lubricating oil consumptions, and implement timely remedial actions where these are outside agreed or expected parameters
  • Provide effective leadership to Chief Engineer Officers
  • Be responsible for Ships Engineering related budgets for assigned vessels

Qualifications / Experience Required:

  • Hold Class 1 Chief Engineer Unlimited license
  • Sailed in a senior rank at sea (Chief / 2nd engineer)
  • Shore based experience as Technical Superintendent or fleet/technical manager (Preferred)
  • Experience sailing / managing passenger ships; RoRo, RoPax, Ferries etc (Preferred)
  • Must have right to work in the UK and hold a full UK drivers license
