Head of Learning & Development (Cruise) – Permanent – Southampton – Competitive package

This is an excellent opportunity to join a global ship management company as Head of Learning & Development for their leisure department.

The Head of L&D is responsible for developing training strategy to enhance the skills, training, and performance of the Leisure seafarer. The role involves developing strategies to identify training needs and deliver quality training interventions, ensuring the Leisure seafarers are equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to excel in their roles and contribute to the company’s success

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop Leisure seafarer training strategy in line with Group strategy.
  • Develop and maintain Leisure Training Matrix in line with Group requirements.
  • Collaborate with Leisure HSSEQ on regulatory training requirements and propose recommendations for new training to Global Head of Marine Learning Development
  • Support Leisure Key Account Manager with business development opportunities for new and existing clients. Input into value proposition and services for new clients. Prepare quotations for new business proposals.
  • Responsible for organising approved in-house training courses for Leisure crew with the support of the Global Training Administration team.
  • Coordinate all approved in-house and external training delivery for Leisure Vessel with the support of the Global Training Administration team.
  • Deliver company onboard and shoreside training including new vessel start-ups
  • Liaise with Flag States for the provision of course approvals and changes in training requirements

Experience Required:

  • Instructor Led Training experience (Shoreside or Onboard).
  • Knowledge of Adult Learning requirements and techniques.
  • Hold either a Deck or Engine CoC.
  • IMO Train the Trainer certification.
  • Minimum 3 years working onboard Cruise Vessels.
  • Have good knowledge of Maritime Legislation (STCW, MARPOL. ISPS, MLC).
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to communicate with training team, management and clients.
