Technical Superintendent (Tankers) – Permanent – Newcastle – Excellent Salary

This is a rare opportunity to join a reputable shipping company based in Newcastle, UK.

As Superintendent, you will be responsible for The safe, efficient and economic performance of the vessels. This is a hands role and you can expect to get your hands dirty and be involved in the vessel repairs, dry docks etc in conjunction with the service team.

Responsibilities include;

• You will be responsible for the day-to-day operation and performance of the vessels under your control and will assist others with any business when required
• You will also be responsible for the monitoring and filing of all month end returns from the vessels under your control to include planned maintenance records, TMSA, Masters and Chief Engineers returns
• Once familiar with policies and procedures you will be expected to prepare work specifications and to carry out scheduled / unscheduled repair periods individually and as part of a team depending on the scope of work
• In charge of dry-dock, major upgrades and repairs
• In charge of all Class matters including timely arrangement of surveys

Experience Required;

• Preferably hold an Unlimited Chief Engineer III/2 Certificate (or equivalent)
• Good knowledge of marine electricals
• You should have a good knowledge of the ISM system in general, should be familiar with Classification rules and regulations and able to co-ordinate between ship’s staff, surveyors, owners and charterers with reference to vessels under your control.
• Sea going experience on Tankers (Highly desirable)
• Previous shore based experience in a similar role.

This is an office based role in Newcastle so you must be prepared to live in commutable distance. You must also have the existing right to work in the UK
