I have an exciting opportunity to join a Cruise Ship as Crew Counsellor. You will be sailing on one of the most well-known and largest Cruise Lines in the World.

Reporting to the Senior Doctor onboard, the mental health professional is expected to support the emotional and mental health needs of the general crew population. The Counselor will provide counselling services, with appropriate discretion and confidentiality, to individuals and groups to promote optimum emotional and mental health.

Responsibilities:

  • Counselling crew individually and in group sessions, to assist in overcoming dependencies, adjusting to life changes, and managing relationship and work stressors.
  • Maintaining confidentiality of records relating to therapy and treatment.
  • Preparing and maintaining confidential treatment records and producing reports, as needed.
  • Evaluating crew members’ emotional and mental condition based on review of information and interaction.
  • Developing and implementing treatment plans based on clinical experience, subject matter expertise, and patient assessments.
  • Providing crisis intervention, assessment, and referrals for crew members.
  • Acting as a crew member advocate to coordinate recommended and required services or to resolve urgent/emergent issues, as needed.

Hiring Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 year of experience in the field.
  • Master’s degree/Licensed in psychology, counseling or a related field required.
  • Appropriate state credentials and licensing required.
  • Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; psychological theory and research methods; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders.
  • Knowledge of group behavior and dynamics, societal trends and influences, human migrations, ethnicity, and cultures and their history and origins.
  • English Required Advanced Level, Second Language Encouraged
