Sanitation Officer (Cruise) – Worldwide

Navis Consulting have a position available as Sanitation Officer on a small, beautiful cruise ship for 3 months starting mid-March.

The Sanitation Officer is responsible for carrying out and monitoring all shipboard hygiene and sanitation inspections, helping to achieve and maintain food and water safety on board. Their role is to help protect the public health of all passengers and crew and to minimise the risk of any food or water related illness and relevant communicable diseases. The Sanitation Officer interacts with all department heads within deck, technical and hotel on board.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the highest sanitation standards on the vessel.
• Ensuring practical working requirements for the Vessel Sanitation Program, including any legal requirements, compliance and best practices are met.
• Familiar with the regulations of the individual countries/regions sailing including USPH
• Maximize knowledge through training to achieve set sanitation standards that will comply with USPH (vessel sanitation manual).
• Review USPH corrective action with the Hotel Director and other department heads and assist with follow-up where necessary.
• Responsible for PH and Sanitation trainings of all Deck, Engine and Hotel personnel, which includes but is not limited to hands on training for chemical usage/handling, equipment handling, cleaning techniques, ?me control plans, filling out logs etc
• Maintain, monitor, and audit all sanitation logs (Galley, Restaurant, HK, Bar, Provision, Chemical, Potable water and Medical).
• Monitor the dish wash areas during the peak hours to prevent loss of and breakage and monitor workload of the utility team.
• Ensure Integrated Pest Management (IPM) procedures are well followed and maintain any documentation required and ensure on the floor follow up.
• Inspecting periodically all Hotel areas with and without Ships Management for USPH compliance.
• Ensuring proper storage of all chemicals onboard and periodically checking all chemicals stores.
• Assist the Galley team in care, treatment, and training on the galley equipment, especially during cleaning process.
• Ensure that waste control is in place, grocery breakage minimized and garbage separation followed.
• Establish cleaning routines schedules etc.
• Ensuring that uniform and personal hygiene guidelines are followed according to the company standards.
• Assist loading on the pier that all-perishable food Items are of highest quality and proper temperature / pest control before bringing on board.

Requirements:

• Must have experience on Cruise ships in this position with lots of USPH and inspection involvement
• Basic Safety Training and Designated Security Duties
• Seafarers Medical
• Able to join in mid-March
